They do not change on the full moon even though they do feel a stronger urge to shift, nor can they transfer their abilities to another through a bite. To become a Loup Garou, you must be born a Loup Garou. Easy as that.

While the moon holds power over the Loup it is only in instincts and only slightly. It can also aid their already impressive regenerative powers. If a Loup is injured badly they can lay out in the light of a full moon, most likely protected by their pack, and in one night heal a would like a slashed stomach. Even the light from the moon on any other night can aid in healing.

Silver, just like in most old tales, is dangerous and in large doses can in fact be fatal.

One other interesting fact, each pack of Loup Garou is known to have one single last name. It is normally the last name of the pack leader or the creator of the pack. This is said to have been to help other packs identify who is theirs and who is not. When others are brought into the pack they are forced to change their last name or pack name.
